I love this time of year.

Today was the first day that I really started to feel like Fall was upon us. I’m in very serious planning mode these days with a major redesign of this website, a couple of huge audition/application-based opportunities coming up, grant applications, and searching for space for a spring show focusing on text-based work, all on my plate. I have barely had time to be outside at all.

I went to meet Jo today to talk about fundraising, and as I walked up the street ran into a friend of mine who moved to NY right around the same time I did, and who I haven’t seen in probably six years. He lives right around the corner from me, and it was a treat to see him. Waiting around in the East Village for Jo to get done with work I was listening to Swans and enjoying the ever-so-slight chill in the air.

It reminds me of those first few months in the fall of 2001 when I was living here. It was a very difficult time to be in New York, but it was also full of promise. I think everyone felt that things could only get better, and they certainly have.

In about a week or so I will have lived here for seven years. I’m extremely happy to be here, and to once again be feeling that hope and promise of things to come.
