Wednesday night saw a beautiful staging of Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire paired with Jenny Olivia Johnson’s remarkable An After School Vespers: 4 Songs on Youth/Sex/Death – There will be more images and documentation coming of that evening soon, but in the mean time, here’s a great review by Brian Rosen.
On Friday night, February 17th, The Avant Music Festival presents Ekmeles Vocal Ensemble, Vicky Chow, violinist Ana Milosavljevic, and singer/composer Eve Beglarian in a full evening of Beglarian’s electroacoustic music, featuring songs from the epic River Project alongside other significant songs from the composer.
These two nights share a common thread featuring vocal works, mixed with electronics and video to create a full audio-visual experience.

We are very pleased to return to Wild Project for the 2011 Avant Music Festival.
This year, curators Randy Gibson and Megan Schubert are focusing on Evolution as a guiding theme. The evolution of contemporary music, evolution in the literal sense, how we learn from our mentors, and how a work evolves once it’s in the hands of the performers.
A full listing of dates and performances is below. Please join us for a special preview on October 12th for the Avant Music Festival Fall Fundraiser

On January 25, 2007 Avant Media presented the world premiere of Anger the pivotal immersion performance with music by Randy Gibson and video by Ana Baer-Carrillo. Additional artists included Alicia Wargo – sculptures and costumes; Oscar Henriquez – video typography; Mike Rugnetta – guitar, banjo and pre-show music; and Laine Rettmer – voice.
The performance, held at 20 Greene in SoHo, NYC, was completely sold out. Thank you to all of our audience members and supporters who came out for this one-night-only event. This is sure to be a piece that will continue its evolution and become on of Avant Media’s signature performances. Plans are already in the works for expanded video sections and further musical development.
