This weekend, March 26th and 27th at 8:30 PM, we will be presenting Mémoire-en-Ciel at Highways Performance Space in Los Angeles. In 2007 we presented the west-coast premiere of Aqua Madora here, and it’s a great pleasure to be back.
On the program are Undress Me Not by Ana Baer-Carrillo, Pat Stone, and Caren McCaleb; Mujeres de Juárez by Randy Gibson and Ana Baer-Carrillo, and to close the night: the world premiere of Mémoire-en-Ciel by Dani Beauchamp and Randy Gibson.
I’ve just uploaded a new audio sample of Aqua Madora. The video on the page is still from the Permanent Wilting performance with Dani Beauchamp dancing. I’ve added a sample of the “Table” section of the Triplicate performance which was expertly recorded by Mike Rugnetta here.
I’m also including the sample after the jump. here
With the start of the 2008-2009 season upon us, many changes are in the works for Avant Media Performance.
Dani Beauchamp and Mike Rugnetta will now officially join Avant Media as Principal Artists. Their talents and creativity are a welcome addition to the core of artists leading the direction Avant Media will be taking in the coming years.
As a part of this new direction, the Principal Artists of the company: Ana, Dani, Mike and myself; will be sharing our experiences, thoughts, ideas, and whatever else strikes our fancy here, in what will become a regularly updated Journal of the activities of Avant Media Performance and its artists. February 6-8, 2008: Avant Media artists Dani Beauchamp and Ana Baer-Carrillo will be teaching a 3 day masterclass at the Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts, a fine arts magnet school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In addition to classes in choreography, videography, and collaboration, the artists will also set a new piece on the Project Motion Dance Ensemble.
Aqua Madora will receive its Los Angeles premiere at the Highways Performance Space on August 17 and 18, 2007. Permanent Wilting :: An evening of collaborative performance curated by Avant Media Performance will feature works by Ana Baer-Carrillo, Randy Gibson, Dani Beauchamp, Susanna Morrow and Debra Christie, with the continuing Avant-Premiere of Aqua Madora anchoring the evening.
The 2006 masterclass in Morelia was a great success. The students created two short pieces with choreographic assistance from Ana Baer-Carrillo and Dani Beauchamp, and performed them on October 27, 2006 with new music written by Randy Gibson performed live by music students at the university.
