The Third Pillar – Full World Premiere

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Third Pillar Image

Dear friends and listeners,

Following the truncated, partial premiere last Saturday as part of the 2012 Avant Music Festival, William Lang and I are very excited to present the Full World Premiere of The Third Pillar in Primal Imperfect Palindrome with The Souvenir of The Second Pillar, The Floating Cirrus over the Pumping Slush, and The Highest Moving Chordal Motif from Apparitions of The Four Pillars on Monday, February 27th, 2012, at 8PM at The Wild Project.

Anyone that was at the performance on the 18th, is invited back as our guests to this premiere, and I’m hoping that this last minute change in schedule will allow even more people to experience Will’s transcendent playing as it was intended.

Tickets to this special premiere are available now.

In harmony,

Randy

Some documentation from Doleo Æternus

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

We have posted some photos of the World Premiere of Doleo Æternus over on our Flickr Page.

And we have posted a little video of the performance on the Doleo Æternus minisite and on our Vimeo Page.

We’ve also created an album on our Facebook Page. If you’re not already a fan of Avant Media on Facebook – now’s the time.

Thank you to everyone that come out to this monumental performance. We can’t wait for the next one.

Doleo Æternus – a look ahead

Friday, June 19th, 2009

It’s looking more and more like the Just Intonation World Premiere of Doleo Æternus is going to happen in New York this fall. Updates with exact dates and venues will be coming in the coming weeks.

I’m obviously very excited by this fact. So I’m going to do something I don’t normally do, and post an excerpt of the work in-progress.

I’ve been rehearsing with the violinist Drew Blumberg, and we’re going to be putting together a pretty interesting ensemble for this premiere.

Over the next couple of months we will be presenting two of our works in unusual ways for us. Next week we are auditioning Shiver for the Fresh Tracks program at DTW. In early December we will present a new version of Anger at the ISIM conference in Denver.

I’m very much used to thinking about our work only within the context of Avant Media and our artists and methodologies. Taking these two works outside of Avant Media (to an extent) has proved enlightening to the nature and concept of our work (more…)
